Featured Project: 1st Source Bank Performance Center
In 2015, the ribbon was finally cut on the 1st Source Bank Performance Center in South Bend, Indiana.
The 1st Source Bank Performance Center is a world-class indoor training facility for not only the South Bend Cubs, but also baseball and softball players of all ages. The massive 17,000 square foot building is unsurpassed in professional amenities and usable space for athletes who want superior training to enhance their game.
The facility was designed and constructed to foster a training experience that is second to none using state-of-the-art equipment designed to meet the highest standards of the Major Leagues. The 1st Source Bank Performance Center is now lauded as the premier destination for baseball and softball training in the region and has been central to the revitalization efforts in downtown South Bend.
Turfix had the opportunity to get on the ground floor and to be a part of this project by installing artificial grass in the 1st Source Bank Performance Center.
The entire arena is covered in Turfix artificial turf, including the batting cages and training area, emulating conditions found on many high-level high school and college campuses in the Midwest, such as the University of Notre Dame and Western Michigan University.
Turfix Batting Cages
Batting cages are an essential part of preparing players for competition. The 1st Source Bank Performance Center Turfix batting cages offer:
- Six full-size regulation cages
- Four state-of-the-art pitching machines for baseball as well as both fast- and slow-pitch softball
- One professional-speed pitching machine capable of throwing baseballs up to 85 miles per hour
- One throwing lane with a regulation dirt pitching mound

The training area is a flexible space designed to accommodate a team’s training needs in a professional setting. From agility drills to grounding, long-toss catch and more, the training space is perfectly adaptable to meet the needs of any team or group.
